Chocolate Brunette Grand Opening

A few weeks ago, Laura & I had the pleasure of working with Micol Corno, of Chocolate Brunette Pastry co. for her store's Grand Opening. The event took place at the bakery on June 6th, in the heart of Yorkville at Davenport & Avenue. The opening was busy all day thanks to local press, customers, neighbours, family & friends.

Micol (aka the official Chocolate Brunette) started her company four years ago, selling her Italian-inspired sweets through online catering. Micol dreamed of transitioning the online business into a physical store front - LKWD was there to assure an initial success for her grand opening day.

Beautiful lilac florals were created by Sweet Woodruff. The event was captured by Tyler Rumi Photography who spent the day photographing guests sampling Nutella Cupcakes; a chocolate cupcake filled with a Nutella center & Heavenly Bites; Chocolate Brunette’s signature chocolate, hazelnut cookies. (Is your mouth watering yet?!) Chocolate milk shots were offered to wash down decadent treats, guests sipped on our LKWD signature blue-raspberry lemonade & one lucky raffle winner was presented with a gift certificate for Micol’s delicious treats.

The overall event was a great success, introducing Micol to new customers and welcoming business. The day was filled with lots of love and of course - chocolate!

Visit Micol @ 182 Avenue Road or for more information check out her Facebook page.

Style Trend: Floral Headpieces

“I’d rather have flowers in my hair than diamonds on my neck.”

Get in touch with your inner bohemian bride and substitute these stunning floral headbands & crowns in lieu of traditional headpieces or veils. Whimsical and rustic, flower headpieces are one of summer’s most popular wedding trends. Originating from the ancient Greeks and 60s hippy-era, these headbands have had a recent reintroduction over the past year and have become a popular wedding day accessory for Spring/Summer 2013. We’ve been noticing them everywhere this time of year on some of our beautiful brides & bridesmaids as well as in our favorite wedding magazines and blogs.

Regardless of your day-of tresses, these florals are completely customizable in all colours & designs. Work with your florist to create a piece unique to you to fit into your wedding day style. We absolutely adore them!

Cocktail Wedding Receptions...

Welcome 2013... And welcome to "The Cocktail Reception" trend... A trend we couldn't be happier to have around. In 2013, we are seeing a growing number of couples opting out of a formal sit down dinner, for a much more fluid and interactive cocktail party. While this type of reception brings it's fair share of considerations, it's becoming a popular reception style for 3 main reasons:

1) It allows for a much more social and interactive experience for everyone attending your event. Without a formal seating plan and course by course itinerary, guests can travel the venue enjoying conversations with many other guests while sampling food at their leisure. Without the expectation to occupy an assigned seat for a number of hours, guests can really become more connected to your wedding and all the of the other people invited to it.

2) It allows for a wider diversity of food. While a sit down meal naturally lends itself to a larger quantity of a few items, cocktail receptions are the opposite; A larger variety of foods, in smaller quantities  If you've ever been to a 'tapas' restaurant, you can see the appeal.

3) It invites creativity and originality in the design of your event space. While formal table and chairs are limited by functionality, the design aspect of a cocktail reception screams "FUN!" With the inclusion of great rental pieces, you can create a personalized lounge/cocktail style environment that reflects your personal style and tastes!

Happy Planning!
